VNX series storage arrays

The VNX series storage arrays contain common components across all models.

The VNX series storage arrays connect to dual SPsusing 6 Gbps four-lane serial attached SCSI (SAS). Each storage processor connects to one side of two, four, eight, or sixteen (depending on the Converged System) redundant pairs of four-lane x 6 Gbps serial attached SCSI (SAS) buses. The connection provides continuous drive access to hosts for a storage processor or bus fault. FC expansion cards within the storage processors connect to the Cisco MDS switches in the network layer over FC.

VNX5400

The VNX5400 is a DPE-based array with two back-end SAS buses, up to four slots for front-end connectivity, and support for up to 250 drives. It is available in both unified (NAS) and block configurations.

VNX5600

The VNX5600 is a DPE-based array with up to six back-end SAS buses, up to five slots for front-end connectivity, and support for up to 500 drives. It is available in both unified (NAS) and block configurations.

VNX5800

The VNX5800 is a DPE-based array with up to six back-end SAS buses, up to five slots for front-end connectivity, and support for up to 750 drives. It is available in both unified (NAS) and block configurations.

VNX7600

The VNX7600 is a DPE-based array with six back-end SAS buses, up to four slots for front-end connectivity, and support for up to 1000 drives. It is available in both unified (NAS) and block configurations.

VNX8000

The VNX8000 comes in a different form factor from the other VNX models. The VNX8000 is an SPE-based model with up to 16 back-end SAS buses, up to nine slots for front-end connectivity, and support for up to 1500 drives. It is available in both unified (NAS) and block configurations.
